Hitch Dating App Review
What you need to know about Hitch
There is an exciting and slightly unusual dating app around that is set to change the way we find dates. It’s called Hitch, and it works differently from most of the big players in the online dating world. Basically, you sign up to the app, and then you can scroll through the ‘Discover’ section. There you find people who are close to where you live or work. The difference is that you can send a ‘Meet’ suggestion to friends that are using the app. You ask them to suggest people who they think would be a good match for you on a date. The same applies the other way around. If you spot someone who you think would be a good match for a friend, then you can connect them and a date together using the ‘Hitch’ feature on the app.
Here’s the deal breaker – all of your hitches are completely anonymous at first. This means that you start up a chat with a suggested match without even viewing their photo! It may sound a little daunting, but you really get the chance to find out more about someone and there interests prior to judging them on looks alone. Hitch says they stand out from other dating sites because instead of using fancy algorithms to match users, they use friends which can result in much more effective matchmaking, so you’re much more likely to find true love! Basically, Hitch allows you to play matchmaker, while also giving your friends and family the chance to scout out idea matches for you too. Read on for my honest Hitch dating app review.
Hitch Dating App Review: The Stats
Hitch was launched in June 2014. It is aimed at people looking for love, often for more serious, long-term relationships. The app is completely free of charge to download, and it is available for both iOS systems and Android devices. It is currently available in over 50 countries worldwide, and many languages, while recent additional funding is being used to make it available in even more locations. It is particularly popular in England, Los Angeles and New York. The nice thing about Hitch is that it attracts people of various ages and backgrounds, however many users fall between the ages of 25 and 35. The figures are certainly impressive, and while it may not have the same presence as sites like eHarmony or apps like Tinder, it certainly scores well for stats in my Hitch dating app review.
Hitch Dating App Review: What it packs
Hitch is easy to sign up to. Just download the app for free from your device’s app store. You can then join by linking your Facebook profile to your account. Don’t panic, Hitch will not post anything to your wall without your consent. You will need an invite from a friend or a special pass code to be able to access the app. If you don’t yet have friends who are on Hitch, then you can find a special pass code by doing a quick search for it online. This security feature helps to protect Hitch from spammers and offensive people.
Once you’re logged in, you can choose your profile photo that friends will be able to see. This along with a short description about yourself that potential suitors will see. The app is super sleek and very easy to use. You’ll be able to find your way around in no time. They also have a strict banning policy, which means that there is no tolerance for offensive or abusive behavior on the app. Anyone who acts in that manner will be instantly banned. You also have the option to report anyone who is acting unreasonably. Hitch have your back! These special features earned them extra brownie points in my Hitch dating app review.
Hitch Dating App Review: The Last Word
I gave the app a go first-hand so I could write a detailed and honest Hitch dating app review. Okay, so after downloading the app and signing up, I was pleasantly surprised by the layout of the app. In fact, it reminded me a little bit of Tinder, just without the swipe left or swipe right functions! I was instantly presented with a list of friends who are already using the app, which was actually a lot more people than I had expected! Then I began browsing, searching for potential dates for a certain friend who has been single for three years. I must admit it was pretty addictive, like browsing through a catalogue of single men who could be her prince charming. If you fancy yourself as a matchmaker, then you’ll really have some fun on this app.
The bio section on the profiles allow you to find out more about each person before clicking on the ‘meet’ button. I also asked a friend of mine to make a few suggestions for me. I had a local match within an hour! It did feel a little odd to chat with someone when I had no idea what they looked like. But at the same time it was fun and a new experience, and I trusted my friends opinion about who would be good for me. It’s been a few days of talking online now, and we even have a date in the pipeline! Fingers crossed.
Hitch Dating App Review: Rating
So after my Hitch dating app review, I rate Hitch a generous 4 stars. It’s fresh, ingenious, and it’s a lovely way to be introduced to potential suitors who you wouldn’t normally have gone for based on looks alone. If you can get your head round to chatting to someone without seeing a photo, and you trust your friends to make relationship choices, then Hitch may just be the dating app for you. It’s unique angle means it’s also a fun thing to test out, and even do your own Hitch dating app review! It’s free so you really have nothing to lose. So, why not download it today?
